One of the greatest deejays in the history of hip hop descended upon Atlanta last Thursday & didn't disappoint. Well maybe except for the fact that people waited around for quite a while at the Luckie Lounge for the skilled turntablist to get up on the 1s & 2s. There were quite a number of other celebs spotted in the place such as R&B artist Lloyd as well as Block Entertainment's own Gorilla Zoe. The event was apart of the R&B Live series that the Luckie Lounge promotes featuring various R&B acts for live performances.

Although this particular event was largely promoted with DJ Jazzy Jeff as the primary draw, it was also the birthday party for D. Woods of Danity Kane. D.Woods also took the opportunity to perform with her new group called "The Good Girls" as well as bringing up "Danity Kane" for a few songs. Probably the best performance of the night (with the exception of Jazzy Jeff's turntable wizardry) was Akon's new group called "Rock City". They have a new hot single called "Losin' It" which is straight fiyah & their performance was just as impressive.

Jazzy Jeff didn't get on the wheels of steel until sometime after midnight which appeared to be too long a wait for some people who appeared to be restless & left early. Despite the few that did leave the place was still packed with a bevy of beautiful women & other well dressed types. Talented hip hop artist "Skillz" served as the hypeman for DJ Jazzy Jeff while he was djing. Skillz is probably most noted today as the creator of the hilariously accurate "Year End Wrapup" songs that he's been putting together since 2002. The songs tend to detail all the crazy things that went down in the year in hip hop & black music. He has a new album scheduled to drop soon called "The Million Dollar Backpack" featuring guest appearances from Talib Kweli, Common, & a few others emcees in the game.

Overall it was apparent that the majority of the people were there to see Jazzy Jeff do this thing. Jazzy Jeff is noted around the world for being a great deejay for parties & he travels extensively doing gigs. For people who normally follow Jazzy Jeff he tends to keep things very diverse in his musical selection playing everything from underground hiphop to house to soul to contemporary R&B to rare tracks that you may haven't heard before. This is one of the things that makes Jazzy Jeff special as a deejay because he doesn't just play the hit records that you find on the radio all day. It appeared as if Jazzy Jeff was trying to go a little deeper, but this particular crowd may not have been too ready for Jeff to go too deep in the crates. Overall he rocked it like a true professional taking headz to school.
