You would have thought someone was smelling like "Budussy" while Bernie Mac took to the stage at a Barack Obama fundraiser in Chicago last Friday night (7/11/08). If your are not sure what "Budussy" means you may want to check out some past clips of Bernie Mac's stand up routines. Which is one of possible reasons he was being booed at the $2,300 a plate fundraiser for the Illinois senator. The Chicago native & former star of the "Bernie Mac Show" joked about everything from menopause, sexual promiscuity, & also used language that some in the audience didn't approve of.

"Having a black first lady is different: You're still going have to do the dishes and the laundry and all that . . . you got to pick up the kids," Mac said. "'You didn't pick up the kids?' 'I just came from Korea, talking about nuclear weapons.' 'You were on Air Force One and you couldn't stop to pick up the kids?'"

"My little nephew came to me and he said, 'Uncle, what's the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?'" Mac said. "I said, I don't know, but I said, 'Go upstairs and ask your mother if she'd make love to the mailman for $50,000.'"

Following this joke it was reported that a man in the crowd shouted "It's not funny. Let's get Barack on!" About 15 minutes later Barack Obama took to the stage & performed a few jokes of his own to smoove things over with the audience.

The presidential hopeful thanked, among others, "my great friend, one of the kings of comedy, Bernie Mac."

Obama ended his speech by saying, "We can't afford to be divided by religion, or by region or class. Or by gender." Then, pausing for effect, he added: "That means, by the way, Bernie, you got to clean up your act. This is a family affair. . . . I'm just messing with you, man."

You know it was inevitable that Senator Obama was going to pull Bernie Mac to the side about the family oriented event.

"Sen. Obama told Bernie Mac that he doesn't condone these statements and believes what was said was inappropriate," spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement after the event.

Bernie Mac, an early & continued supporter of Barack Obama went on to say that Obama is a "man's man" while offering him advice for the duration of the campaign trail.

"People like rumors. They're going to say things like you was at the club with Lil' Kim, and you and Kanye West got into a fist fight," he said. "You can't get upset. You've got to keep hope alive."
