June is Black Music Month & another one has come & gone! Apple helped celebrate by holding live performances throughout the country at their various Apple stores.
Here in the ATL they held live performances at their Lenox Mall location & the Perimeter Mall location in Dunwoody.
In case you missed the lineup throughout the month it included many ATL residents such as Janelle Monae, Pastor Troy, David Banner, Anthony David, & Killer Mike. All the performers have upcoming albums on the way so it served as a great promotional opportunity as well. David Banner's new album is the latest to drop out of this group of artists.
With his new album on the way called "The Greatest Story Ever Told", David Banner by far had the greatest turnout with over 200 people filing in at the Lenox Mall location. You damn near couldn't move in that joint.
With his energetic performance & huge turnout, Banner was feeling it enough to let the many people in attendance know what's been going on in his life from being diagnosed with high blood pressure & being just 20 points away from being a diabetic. So his recent weight loss was due in part to a strict diet & work out regiment he now employs. He also went in about how he lost his father last year & also ranted about how BET made him look like an angry black man.
One thing for sure about David Banner is that he constantly has put his money where his mouth was for things like the Katrina survivors. I'd be upset too if someone was dissing my craft or hip hop when I'm one of the few artists to get in with the people but the people doing the critizicing are almost never around to step up. Artists & pundits alike. We salute you Banner!
In case you missed all the performances, just check out these pics so you can at least front like you were there..........ATLSTATUS!
