When I first moved to Atlanta I used to work on the Reverend Hosea Williams's television show called "Voice of The Crusader."  We used to do the show live & sometimes taped over at People TV & it was a pleasure working with the civil rights leader.  Reverend Hosea Williams was unafraid to speak his mind on many issues as he always made it clear that he was "unbossed & unbought" by any establishment.  I learned a good deal from my experiences with "Uncle Hosea" as he liked to be called.  The most important thing I get from talking with our older generation is hearing the stories that don't always get brought up in the media.  It's always interesting to hear the behind the scenes stories that went on back in the day especially during the civil rights movement.  

It seems like Karrine Steffans has opened the floodgates for women to release these tell all books about their time with various male celebrities.  It's one thing coming from self admitted groupies & hangers-on, but to come from women who wish to be respected in their professions it's a definite black eye especially for women of color struggling to be taken seriously.  Former Editor-in-Chief, Kim Osorio, has written a new "tell all" book alleging she had sexual flings with 50 Cent & Nas among other statements found in her memoirs. Osorio's statements may give other women a black eye in the game, but 50 Cent brazenly says her black eye comes from his "balls" smacking her. (Ouch!)

"I messed with Kim a while ago, she licked on my balls before the deal...when they weren't worth much. She licked my balls once & now she's a star. I got some advise for all aspiring women journalists, it may not make the best sellers list, but lick my balls and you are on the road to the riches!"

ATL residents Young Jeezy & Nas both dropped a new joint that's to appear on Jeezy's upcoming album "The Recession". Check out this joint below called "My President Is Black". Fitting we'd put this joint up now considering that in a few hours Barack Obama is scheduled to announce his VP choice.

Nas came in town last night & rocked two shows with help from Talib Kweli & DJ Green Lantern. The show was somewhat delayed & the crowd got restless at times chanting "Bravehearts" in a cadence similar to the bridge in Nas's banger "Made U Look". Jay Electronica was supposed to open up for Nas's Jones Experience tour stop here in Atlanta, but he failed to make it to the venue on time which we were told was the cause for the holdup. Most of us in Atlanta have never seen Jay Electronica perform live so we were somewhat disappointed in not being able to see or hear more from the former Atlanta resident & current baby daddy of Ms. Erykah Badu. He arrived backstage near the end of Nas's set holding a long scepter of some sort, but never came on fully on stage at any point during the night. Initially there was only going to be one show for the night, but after the first show sold out so fast the promoters added another that followed at 10:30pm. The second show was just as packed as the first & appeared to have sold out as well.

Since Jay Electronica was M.I.A., Talib Kweli started the show off gracing the stage in a fedora & a grey dress vest with white T-shirt & jeans. Rocking to a thunderous applause he delved into his catalog of joints from "Get By", "The Blast", "Hot Thang", "Hostile Gospel", "Move Somethin" to spitting his verses from various cameos such as repeating his lyrics from Kanye's "Get Em High" & going into a medley of the Audio Two classic "Top Billin".

After Talib Kweli concluded his set about 35 minutes later there was a long break before Nas would come up on stage. You would have thought that DJ Green Lantern would be warming the crowd up in between sets to keep the crowd together, but this night he played solely as Nas's deejay for the evening.

Nas took to the stage rocking a Kafia scarf, T-shirt, & camouflage cargo shorts with white kicks. Off to the side of the stage his daughter danced & recited the lyrics to his long list of songs. Nas has a deep catalog of hits & went in on just about everyone of them. Well maybe just performing the hooks on some of the hits & not the whole song. One of the most controversial songs he did was "Sly Fox" aimed directly at the FOX News organization & Bill O'Reilly in particular. Nas also went on to also diss radio stations who haven't been giving him support by saying "F*&k The Radio!" Overall it was a great night despite the delays & long breaks between the action! another "trap rapper" to being a true artist. Some rap artists
may not be the most lyrical, but they have the ability to touch
the people & tap into what the people are feeling. Here's
Young Jeezy echoing the same sentiment as Nas about the
biased reporting Fox News has been doing. Maybe we'll see
Young Jeezy show up to Nas's show here in Atlanta on
Thursday July 31st. Wishful thinking, but not impossible.

Despite sales for hip hop albums being down dramatically, it appears that Nas is poised to sell well when his album drops on Tuesday July 15th. Nas had alot of controversy for his new album which was originally titled the "Nigger" album. Due to corporate pressure from the higher ups beyond Def Jam, the label was forced to leave Nas's album "untitled" although the music & subject matter is still the same. Hits Magazine, a music industry trade magazine, is reporting that Nas is projected to sell close to 325,000 copies in the first week of sales despite a massive leak that hit the web about a week ago. This is definitely good news for Nas although he's more concerned with getting out his message to the people.

"I just like to hear that people are liking it and I don't [need] to know what [the sales numbers] are. I don't care," the lyricist stated to Allhiphop.com
